M The Opera

On Friday, I came back dead tired. We went to watch M The Opera at Istana Budaya. Free tickets summore. Hehehe...
Anyway, I was not at all impress. The sound system was bad, and we could see Khir Rahman singing but no voice as he was being drown out by the audio system. It was *shrudder* horrible. To be honest, the cast wasn't bad. Overall, the performance, in my humble opinion could have been better if there were more direction, AND A BETTER SOUND SYSTEM.
One, there were too many dancers on stage, all dancing and it didnt look syncronize at all. It looked messy. However, I really enjoyed the performance of George Chan (Kerabat), and Peter Ong (Solomon). The star of the night however, was little Elyssa Murni Johari who played little Sepi. To be honest this kid stole the show. Still I do wish that they had a BETTER SOUND SYSTEM.
BETTER SOUND SYSTEM would have: -
1) Made me hear exactly what the cast were saying
2) Save me neck strain from looking continously at the monitor for translation
Still, the no brainer of the night would be this idiot that sat in front of us who did not know the meaning of sitting still. He kept on shaking and shaking as if having an epilepsy. Gawd.
Moral of the story?
BETTER SOUND SYSTEM MATTERS AND PEOPLE WHO RUIN THE EXPERIENCE OF A THEATER SHOULD BE....
1) mutilated
2) suffocated
3) strangulated
and
4) .....
..... go figure

Debernhams and F1

On Sunday, I learnt two new things.

One - never go shopping with my mum in Debernhams. EVER.

Two - Michael Schumacher takes the KL Monorail.

It's weird you know, to see men in red queuing patiently for the train, while onlookers (RE: MAINLY Caucasians) stood and gawped.

You know, I realize that I never did have this paparazzi craze over celebrities. I have bumped into various of them, both during work and play. I have seen Andy Lau (same lift, same hotel, same stay), BSB, 911, etc but I have yet to have the urge to go bananas over them.

It's more the kind of, "Hey, that's ____. Man, she sure is skinny!" - then it's back to shopping.

Speaking of shopping, never for the life in me am I ever going in to Debernhams with my mum again. Putting her there is like letting loose a five-year-old in a toy shop. She was 'OO-ing' and 'AH-ing' over clothes, bedsheets, bags, shoes, and so much more. As long as they were shinny, she went ballistic over them. We the poor sufferers were forced into a sprint to chase up with her. Eventually, we had to threaten her to come out....

..And that was after a full whole hour and a half....

Utter Nonsense

WARNING! Post below maybe be deemed as a waste of time by the intellectual. If you are NOT an intellectual, do proceed to waste your time, on a wasteful post. Thank you.

Because I have nothing to blog about, I decided to sit back for five minutes and see what comes to mind.

Thinking....

Letting my mind run free....

......

Alright, all I could come up was this:-

Waterfall
Home
Mountain
Pink
Sunglasses

Yeah I know they somewhat don't relate BUT, I believe my thought indicate that......

Waterfall = I desperately need a holiday
Home = Where I would rather be at the moment
Mountain = If only it was cool and breezy
Pink= Whatcha know?! MY favourite color!!!
Sunglasses = Dang it's hot

Well, don't blame me, on this senseless blog. I told, you it was senseless!

"How about highlighting?"

A few weeks ago, I did something I vowed never to do because of boredom - I highlighted my hair. That day, me and my mum went to our usual salon and because (READ) my mum was taking century doing (I have NO idea what to) her hair. I was flipping and flipping through the various magazines for an HOUR. Soon I had nothing to flip, save my hair.
Sensing my aura, my stylist (who has been at it asking me to dye/perm/highlight/curl) persuaded me to highlight my hair. Doubiously I asked, "BUT won't it damage your hair?" (I'm vain you see), to which she replied, "No. The latest dye does not uses ammonia, so it does not damage your hair. Besides, I won't be dying to the roots of your hair"
YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT DYE HAD AMMONIA BEFORE??EWWWW...
"Besides, after six months your hair would be back to normal," my stylist said.
I looked at my mum. She was in seventh heaven with various weird things on her hair. Well, I decided, why not?
To be honest, the fun was soon over when she pulled out all the foil out of my hair and proceeded to wash my hair. Results are not bad.
However, it would be quite a while before I visit my wicked stylist again. Hell, if I get bored again, I have no idea what she would persuade me to do next. And think of the money I would splurge....
again....

Miss Moody

You know, I never could comprehend how some people can be SO rude. It really irks me. That being said, just this weekend I went out with an ex-colleague, N, whom I'm rather close with. She brought along her niece. Well I don't mind my friends inviting other people, as long as they behave themselves.

However, another friend of hers, Moody (no, that's not her real name, but I think it truly describes her) tagged along in the merry party. Moody was running late so we decided to go and eat first, without her. Now if you asked me where to eat, I would more often than not, list down the various joints that sells delicious food. It might be cheap, it might be expensive. After reciting my list of food havens, YOU have to decide. Don't expect ME to do so. I leave the decision in your hands.

So after listing down the various places we could go, N decided for Mr Ho's (I know this is out of topic, but please, don't try the one in BSC*). We were in Midvalley by the way. Thus we were happily eating when her friend Moody, called and demanded that we go and buy the tickets for a movie. Well I'll be %#$^@! HereI am, eating and you demand that we go and buy the tickets?!? WTF??!!! N, nonchalantly put down her mobile, ignoring Moody and continued eating. My blood however was beginning to boil. WTF did that woman think she was? SOME BLOODY PRINCESS????

Anyway, while we were enjoying ourselves, Moody decided to wreck the merriment with her arrival. She placed herself down and asked whether we got the tickets. N, meekly said no, as the queue was too long and we were too hungry. What did Moody do? She sulked and proceed to throw a tantrum. I gave her one look, didn't bother and continue with my meal.

What happened next really infuriated me. She looked at the menue and went like, "WaaAAaHh..who's idea was it to eat at this expensive place?". She then proceeded to look at me. Now N knows the better of me. I hate rude people. Call it my pet peeve. Most of the time, I would proceed to show how rude I can also be. It always shuts them up. N knows this. She silently begged me with her face to bear with Moody.

I bit back my retort because of her. Then she was at it again. Moody, in all diva-ness proceeded to say "I'm not going to eat here" After that she threw the menu down, at the table. I ignored her again and told N I was sorry for bringing her to such an expensive place but N said it was okay as she wanted to try it out.

Later on, during the course of the meal (Moody wasn't eating, like f*** I cared) Moody learnt of my mum's occupation (she is in the law industry..my mum that is) and proceeded to give a superior lecture as to what my mum shouldn't be doing. Naturally, I was pissed. This was family she was hitting at. This low, CLP* student (she failed twice) telling my MOM how she sould conduct herself?? BLOODY BITCH!

Sweetly, I said, "WaaaAAHhh..we got a REAL expert in law amidst us"

After eating, Moody asked (wait, I rephase it to DEMANDED) that we go get the tickets and demanded (AGAIN!) that we queue in separate lines. N whispered an apology to me on Moody's 'wonderful' behaviour as she said Moody was not normally like this. The final straw happened sppm when I took out two mobiles. Moody then said "Isn't it a bit too much having two phones? Showing off issit?"

To which I said, "OH, I'M sorry if havint TWO phones somewhat irks you. One is my mum's and the OTHER is mine. Mine has NO CREDIT" with, the fakest smile on my face.

She shut up. Seriously she did. Upon getting the tickets, Moody decided that she needed to have Mc Donald's. As she was buying it, we started a bitch party on Moody. I proceeded to wrap it up by saying, "Now we just have to wait for Miss Moody then we can adjourn to the cinema". Moody was behind me when I called her Moody. Did I care? NOT ONE OUNCE. She deserve hearing that and I wasn't about to feel sorry at all.

She did not try to pick a fight with me after that. Horrid woman was having PMS. Do I feel an ounce of remorse for our moody friend? NO. I told N point blank that if I were to meet up with her she better not bring Moody along eventhough this might have been a fluke incident. I didnt mind the niece as we got along just fine. After all, if Moody is really moody and tries to find a fight with me again, our next outing might end up with her going early to her grave.

PGLtM

First and foremost, a thousand of apologies for not updating my blog for quite a bit. I have been very very busy at work, what not with late nights and a computer without any internet connection. Ain't that a peach?
Thank God the chaotic drama and stress is over - at least for a while. What have I been busy with? A press conference actually. However, for the time being I am going to keep mum about what the pc was about. Maybe at a later date will I create an online diary on the press conference and the production that we are having.
Anyway, on Tuesday, I managed to catch the last performance of Puteri Gunung Ledang - The Musical (PGLtM) at Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya. It was a glamourous event what not with all the celebs, datins and datuks during interval.
However, was the musical worth it? Yes.
Honestly, I never really bothered when it comes to Malaysian movies or theater. However, who can resist a free ticket you tell me?
I was seriously surprised and impressed. Let me begin my review with the cast.
Tiara Jacquelina @ Gusti Puteri Retno Dumilah
She is not only the executive producer of the musical but also the lead actress. Tiara can act, dance and look good doing it. However, can she sing? She's not bad, but she's not good either. But who am I to comment, croaking in the shower? Still, overall, I think she did well.
Stephen Rahman-Hughes @ Hang Tuah
Now I really tabik (salute) him. He gave a splendid performance and boy can he sing, dance, and act. How on earth does he capture all the emotion into his song is beyond my comprehension. But more importantly, he makes you feel for him (as Hang Tuah of course!) and looks damn good doing it.
Adlin Aman Ramlie @ Sultan Mahmud
Not bad. I like his phase - anak raja. Nevermind..
AC Mizal @ Gusti Adipati Handaya Ningrat
Okay, this is one man that growls and shouts all the time that you just feel soar hearing him. Then he proceeds to sing. How does he do it? AC Mizal does not have a bad voice, seriously. Plus, his acting skills is not bad.
Sukania Venugopal @ Bayan
To me, she stole the show. I just love her scene presence and the raw emotions she brought out through singing, just bowled me over. Her acting, her dancing, her singing, and the way she carried her role as Bayan, the sacrificial martyr...
Ensembles
They were good. Real good. "Melaka..." Gawd, I wanna sing...
Musical team
Some of the songs just stayed in my mind going on. And on. AND ON. I still have the damn "Melaka" song in my head. Argh!!!
Lighting & Stage design
Lighting - Brillant
Stage design - Not too bad.
I can go on and on about this musical. Conclusion? Thank God I did not miss it.
(*Psst: The musical is sOOoo much better than the movie. Really..)
