Of Falls And Saves

Sometimes we take things for granted and sometimes, we make decisions without any consideration if there are any safety risk.

29.06.25 a normal grocery run resulted with a fall. I was carrying a woven grocery bag in front of me while going down a flight of stairs. As I could not see the flight of stairs I just used my 'leg sensors' resulting in me missing a step. Next thing I fell down on my right ankle. Dumb I know.

Since it was inflamed, I decided to stop running for a bit to allow it to heal while I did some strength exercises.

If only this was the end of the story and the end of my dumbness. On 02.07.25, on a working day (perks of having a career break), I went out to get my hair treatment done. Now the saloon where I'm at is located on the first floor. Post treatment, on the way down (yes another flight of stairs), I turn around when I was near the bottom to look at my mum. I think I was asking her something. I missed a step again but I did not fall. However I twisted my ankle in a weird angle.

This resulted in my right ankle becoming really inflamed and sore. I decided that it may be wise to check it out with a physiotherapist to ensure that I do whatever I can to heal and recover. After all, running three times a week has been my anchor and routine for me amidst post layoff and I did not want to do anything that can jeopardize my recovery.

Amidst taking care of Catso, I decided to arrange my first ever physio visit on 08.07.25. Long story short it was soft tissue injury and I am super thankful it was not nothing so serious. At least after 3 to 6 weeks I should be able to start running again.

During the consultation the physiotherapist asked me to do heel walks back and forth, wide squats and squats to gauge my injury. After that I had to lie down and she pressed 3 ligament points asking me to tell her if there was any pain in any of the points she pressed. Thankfully it was okay. She noted that my left right looked more inflamed than my left ankle and for me, there was a tightness in the right side of my feet and based on her assessment it was fluid building up from my injury.

After this, the physiotherapist gave me a heating pad for my right foot then after a while proceeded with a massage of my right foot and calf, which was followed by an ultrasound massage and then electrotherapy. My ankle felt less swollen and inflamed. I will be going back to her twice a week for the next three weeks to ensure that I do what I can to recover and recuperate. Super thankful that it is not something serious and can be resolved.

As one session cost RM170, I decided to take a 10 sessions package which was RM1500. I feel that the price was rather reasonable.
