Of Falls And Saves

Sometimes we take things for granted and sometimes, we make decisions without any consideration if there are any safety risk.

29.06.25 a normal grocery run resulted with a fall. I was carrying a woven grocery bag in front of me while going down a flight of stairs. As I could not see the flight of stairs I just used my 'leg sensors' resulting in me missing a step. Next thing I fell down on my right ankle. Dumb I know.

Since it was inflamed, I decided to stop running for a bit to allow it to heal while I did some strength exercises.

If only this was the end of the story and the end of my dumbness. On 02.07.25, on a working day (perks of having a career break), I went out to get my hair treatment done. Now the saloon where I'm at is located on the first floor. Post treatment, on the way down (yes another flight of stairs), I turn around when I was near the bottom to look at my mum. I think I was asking her something. I missed a step again but I did not fall. However I twisted my ankle in a weird angle.

This resulted in my right ankle becoming really inflamed and sore. I decided that it may be wise to check it out with a physiotherapist to ensure that I do whatever I can to heal and recover. After all, running three times a week has been my anchor and routine for me amidst post layoff and I did not want to do anything that can jeopardize my recovery.

Amidst taking care of Catso, I decided to arrange my first ever physio visit on 08.07.25. Long story short it was soft tissue injury and I am super thankful it was not nothing so serious. At least after 3 to 6 weeks I should be able to start running again.

During the consultation the physiotherapist asked me to do heel walks back and forth, wide squats and squats to gauge my injury. After that I had to lie down and she pressed 3 ligament points asking me to tell her if there was any pain in any of the points she pressed. Thankfully it was okay. She noted that my left right looked more inflamed than my left ankle and for me, there was a tightness in the right side of my feet and based on her assessment it was fluid building up from my injury.

After this, the physiotherapist gave me a heating pad for my right foot then after a while proceeded with a massage of my right foot and calf, which was followed by an ultrasound massage and then electrotherapy. My ankle felt less swollen and inflamed. I will be going back to her twice a week for the next three weeks to ensure that I do what I can to recover and recuperate. Super thankful that it is not something serious and can be resolved.

As one session cost RM170, I decided to take a 10 sessions package which was RM1500. I feel that the price was rather reasonable.

A Day To Remember

There are moments in life that changes your trajectory.  Where the path you were on disintegrate and you are left in the woods - wondering, what's next? 03.12.24. A date that I will never forget. On 02.12.24 at 11.45pm local time, I was asleep. It was not a normal day at work as we knew people were getting impacted and there were major transformation going on throughout the organization. After that week, 5% of the workforce would be laid off however, who and where were uncertain. Unbeknownst to me an invitation from Global went out for a call scheduled at the stroke of midnight. Within 10 minutes those on the call across North America, EMEA and APAC were notified that they were laid off. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you view it, I missed the call because of the hour it was scheduled. The next day, amidst a flurry of WhatsApp messages, I piece together that I was also part of the 8,500 employees. Two of my colleagues in Singapore attended the night call and looking...

Of Freedom and Cat Fights

02.07.25 was a normal day like any other. The plus point on being on a career break is that I can afford to have my hair treatment during working hours, which enables me to enjoy a more quiet experience as I watch the world rushes by. It's more meaningful as I also can spend time with my mum as we have our hair treatment together, which focuses on hair growth. Was thankful that we were able to find a parking spot right in front of the saloon as the API reading was especially bad that day and I had a fall due to a slip down the stairs on 29.06.25 carrying groceries down and missing a step at home. Being able to park right in front of the saloon was helpful as I could use less of my right foot on the paddle.  Anyways, after we were done, on the way down (the saloon was located on the first floor), very near the bottom of the stairs, I missed a step but thankfully did not fall, however, I twisted my right foot, causing my right ankle to take the brunt of things. Not good. As usu...
